Sapper Joseph Benson Royal Engineers (12 Bangor Street. Now Willowfield Walk, Belfast.) Died of Wounds. 3179.

Pte. William W. Black 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (Son of William and Fanny Black of 16 Euston Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Died of Wounds in France August 1 st. 1915. Buried in Chocquer Military Cemetery in France. Plot 1- Row D- Grave 45.

Rfn. James Close 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (56 Douglas Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Killed in Action. 12643.

Rfn. James Currie 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles. Husband of Sarah, 14 Canton Street. Beersbridge Road, Belfast. Son of Edward and Ellen Jane McKeown [Formerly Currie] of 8 Frankfort Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Killed in Action at the Somme. July 2nd 1916. His Sacrifice is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France.

12723. Cpl. William J. Dickson 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (Son of James and Mary Ann Dickson, 42 Douglas Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast) Killed in Action 11th June 1916 in France Buried in Authuile Military Cemetery in France. Row D Grave No 7.

Rfn. S. Halliday 5th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (32 Douglas Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Killed in Action.

Pte. C. Hamilton 2nd Royal Irish Fusiliers (33 Douglas Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Killed in Action.

12290. L/Cpl. Hugh Herron 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles. (Son of John and Mary Herron 11 Canton Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast). Died of Wounds in France 8th December, 1917. His Sacrifice is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France.

5932. Rfn. James Hughes 7th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (52 Douglas Street. Beersbridge Road Belfast). Killed in Action at the Somme 9th September, 1916. His Sacrifice is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France. Also on the Memorial Plaque in McQuiston Memorial Church ALSO HIS BROTHER.

6952. Rfn. Robert Hughes 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (52 Douglas Street, Beersbridge Road, Belfast). Killed in Action at the Somme 1 st July 1916. His Sacrifice is also Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France. Also Commemorated on the Memorial Plaque in McQuiston Memorial Church, Castlereagh Road, Belfast. Both men are also named on the Willowfield War Memorial, Bryansford Street, Woodstock Road.

12474. Rfn. William Matier 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles. (Husband of Catherine Matier of 21 Bangor Street, off Willowfield Street, Belfast. Son of John and Kathleen Matier, 34 Walton Street. Crumlin Road. Belfast.) Killed in Action 9th July 1916 aged 37. Buried in St. Souplet British Cemetery in France.

Sapper H. Pascoe Royal Engineers (53 Canton Street. Beersbridge Road, Belfast.) Died of Wounds 14th May 1918.

Cpl J. Snowden 14th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles [Y.C.V.s] (Canton Street. Beersbridge Road. Belfast.) Killed in Action 5th May 1917.)

Killed in Action in Arnhem. March 24th 1945, age 25. His sacrifice is commemorated on the Groesbeek War Memorial in Holland.
