The light is from our household gone,
The voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our home
Which we can never fill.
But let us say, Thy will be done,
Why should we murmur at His pleasure;
He has our cherished precious one;
A pearl of price amongst His treasure.

FIRE AT COALISLAND. -- A fire broke out on Wednesday night at the residence of a man named James M'Reynolds, who carries on the grocery business on a small scale in the townland of Cloghey. The roof was burned off, but the house-hold goods were saved.
WANTON OUTRAGE NEAR CARRICKFERGUS. -- A few nights ago, a valuable Jersey bull, the property of Dr. William Logan of Straidnashanna, which was at grasing with other animals in a field belonging to the gentleman named on the North Road, about half-a-mile distant from Carrickfergus, was mutilated by its ears being slashed or cut with some sharp instrument. The poor animal was tethered at the time which made the deed more easy of accomplishment. Just indignation at the wanton and cruel act is expressed by all who have heard of the occurrence, the motive for which it is difficult to conceive. The police were made aware of the matter, and it is to be hoped they will succeed in bringing the guilty party to justice.
